The artwork that takes place to the right and left of the main entrance consists primarily of old glass shades, mostly from the 60s and 70s, i.e. the same time period as the architecture, 1962–1965. The individual glass shades function as building blocks and form a complex structure that brings to mind a dreamlike utopian city of glass with domes, pinnacles and towers. In the 60s and 70s, when the lamps were at their most popular, virtually every Swedish home had them.
The luminous city is placed on a tempered laminated glass panel with light from below. During the day, daylight is also reflected in the uneven surface of the pressed glass, causing it to sparkle and shimmer.
